Piezoelectric plates and shells models

As a natural extension of the theory of structures, in which 3D continuum models can be used as a starting step for the development of plates and shells models, also for the case of piezoelectric continua the reduction from 3D to 2D models (plates and shells) play a very interesting role in continuum mechanics (or - one should say - electro-mechanics).

The presence of electric variables and the coupled nature of constitutive relations ask for rethinking also the most popular assumptions of the classical plates and shells theories.
